I worked with the Association of Public Health Laboratories’ NewSTEPs division on a site redesign with a focus on the creation of a public facing resource library. The organization had a tremendous amount of resources that were non-searchable and non-filterable. We conducted user interviews from their state laboratory end users to identify numerous pain points previously unknown to NewSTEPs. Additionally, we helped them understand their analytics and where in user journeys they were losing their audience. We worked with them on a content strategy that focused on easier to use resources broken into audience and subject matter specific content navigated through new faceted filtering.
During this project, I managed all the design content as well as the account and client relationship. I worked on site with the client during content collection and population as well as leading them on CMS training and documentation. Together we were able to expand the project scope to include additional user research around their PDF resources as well as site analytics. We were able to identify ways to share more data across state laboratories, implement some basic security updates on their content sharing platforms, and build some tools within their CMS to streamline some of their more cumbersome processes.
