From 2007 through 2010, I was the Lead Designer for the Democratic National Committee. As the organization's senior designer my responsibilities were to design and oversee the production of all print and web projects. During this time I have had the opportunity to work through many elections, several legislative advocacy campaigns and daily online organizing initiatives as part of the organization New Media team. I have experience designing for social networking, designing tools for online organizing and testing and implementing design changes based on analytical measurements.
One of the largest challenges and projects during my time has been to create and implement brand and design styles for the Democratic Party. This resulted in a move away from misuse of the iconic donkey and 'national committee' terminology to a more inclusive and widely understood Democratic Party. Along with adjusting the design to reflect these distinctions we worked closely across internal departments and across the state party infrastructure to understand and embrace the value of these new style guides.
